Food Safety & Quality Manager

A leading food manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Food Safety & Quality Manager with strong expertise in food safety management systems, quality assurance, and compliance to join their team in Gauteng. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring that all products meet internal and external food safety and quality standards, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the Food Safety and Quality Management System in accordance with FSSC 22000, ISO, HACCP, and GMP standards

• Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety legislation and customer requirements

• Lead internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of any non-conformances

• Conduct regular quality and hygiene inspections

• Implement continuous improvement initiatives across production and quality processes

• Liaise with production, procurement, R&D, and commercial teams to ensure quality objectives are met

• Train staff on food safety protocols and quality systems

• Monitor and analyse quality data, implementing corrective actions where needed

• Manage customer complaints and ensure prompt investigation and resolution

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the food manufacturing industry

• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements (FSSC 22000, HACCP, ISO, GMP)

• Proven experience with internal and third-party audits

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems
