The Mpumalanga Department of Health invites Mpumalanga Province citizens between the ages of 18 and 36 to apply ONLINE to study towards the three-year Diploma in Nursing (R.171) for the 2027 intake at the Mpumalanga College of Nursing.

Requirements

Only applicants with ALL of the following minimum requirements will be considered:

  • A National Senior Certificate with a Diploma or Degree pass.
  • English: Level 4 or above.
  • Home Language/Any Additional Language: Level 3 or above.
  • Life Science: Level 4 / Physical Science: Level 3 or above.
  • Mathematics: Level 3 or above / Maths Literacy: Level 5 or above.
  • Any other subject: Level 3 or above.
  • Life Orientation: Level 3 or above.
  • Minimum total Admission Point Score (APS): 23 or above (calculated from the six subjects with highest levels, excluding Life Orientation).
  • South African citizens who are residents of the Mpumalanga Province.

Important Notes:

  • All certificates will be sent for verification.
  • Certificates not registrable with the South African Nursing Council (e.g., ABET) will not be considered.
  • Applicants with a disability will be considered only in terms of the inherent requirements of the nursing duties.

Successful Applicants Will Be Required To:

  • Attend lectures for theoretical knowledge and do Work Integrated Learning in placement facilities accredited by the South African Nursing Council.
  • Sign an agreement/contract with the Mpumalanga Department of Health.

Required Documents for Shortlisted Candidates (During Interview)

  • Original National Senior Certificate. (All certificates will be sent to UMALUSI for verification).
  • Copy of Identity document certified within three months of the closing date of applications.
  • Proof of Residence from the local Municipal Authority or Tribal Authority.
