The role:
Got a passion for the tech beat, a black book of solid media contacts, and a knack for landing top-tier coverage? We’re looking for an Account Executive in the Western Cape with at least 2 years of agency experience in the tech sector to jump in and power our media relations engine. You’ll work alongside our three Senior Account Managers, pitching story angles, maintaining media relationships, and keeping campaign logistics running like clockwork.
What you'll be doing:
- Pitch op-eds, press releases, survey reports, and rapid-response news commentary to South African and regional tech, business, and trade journalists.
- Tap into your established tech and business media relationships to secure high-value interviews, features, and quotes for client spokespeople.
- Support account managers in daily client coordination, tracking coverage, and compiling weekly/monthly reports.
- Spot breaking news, trending tech topics, and calendar events to jump on quick commentary opportunities for clients.
- Keep a close eye on news agendas and log coverage as it lands.
What you bring:
- Hands-on agency experience managing tech accounts (cybersecurity, software, cloud, telecom, or fintech).
- A track record of landing coverage and existing relationships with key tech, B2B, and business journalists.
- Ability to spot a sharp angle, craft a catchy pitch email, and follow up effectively without being spammy.
- Master of tracking tools (Google Drive), deadline management, and client reporting.
- Self-starter energy, great communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative, fun attitude in a 100% remote team setup.
