Requirements

·       Minimum Requirements:

·       Grade 10.

·       Basic knowledge of the Legislative framework and processes related to cleaning.

·       Ability to work under pressure.

·       Ability to liaise with internal and external stake holders.

·       Ability to communicate well with people at different levels.

·       Ability to organize and plan.

·       Must be self-motivated and be prepared to rotate to other units.

·       Ability to act with tact and insight. Knowledge of Batho Pele Principle.

·       Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

·       Ability to work independently in a team.

·       Must be prepared to work shifts which includes fixed, afterhours, night duty, weekends, and public holiday.

·       Applicant should be prepared to undergo medical surveillance.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, buffing, and operating cleaning machines
  • Clean walls, windows, doors, window frames, and all bathroom areas, including tiles, showers, basins, and lockers
  • Dust, wash, and polish furniture and fittings
  • Clean corridors, theatres, X-ray rooms, sluice rooms, kitchens, public toilets, offices, clinics, entrances, stairs, fire escapes, side walls, lifts, passages, waiting areas, equipment, and carpets
  • Remove medical and general waste, clean bins, and ensure proper waste segregation
  • Adhere to healthcare waste management policies and infection control guidelines
  • Operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment
  • Defrost and clean unit refrigerators
  • Refill soap containers and keep cleaning trolleys clean and organised
  • Complete daily cleaning activities on the cleaning control list
  • Adhere to all cleaning service policies, procedures, and timelines
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
  • Perform additional duties as allocated by the supervisor

Training and Compliance:

  • Participate in continuous training and development programmes
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as approved by the supervisor
  • Comply with the Performance Management and Development System, including contracting, reviews, and final assessments
