Repro Operator (Durban)

An established commercial print and packaging manufacturer is seeking a skilled Repro Operator to join its pre-press team.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical side of print production and has a meticulous eye for detail. You'll play a key role in ensuring customer artwork is accurately prepared, checked and released for production, maintaining the highest quality standards throughout the process.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and prepare customer artwork for commercial print production.
• Carry out comprehensive artwork checks to ensure files meet production and customer specifications.
• Correct technical artwork issues relating to colour, bleed, trim, resolution, fonts, overprints and other print requirements.
• Generate production-ready PDFs and customer proofs for approval.
• Prepare packaging artwork using die-lines and ensure accurate positioning for print and finishing.
• Complete artwork imposition using the company's pre-press workflow.
• Work closely with internal departments to resolve artwork queries and ensure production deadlines are achieved.
• Maintain accurate electronic filing systems and version control.
• Ensure all artwork complies with quality procedures before release to production.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have proven experience within a commercial print, packaging or pre-press environment and a sound understanding of preparing artwork for lithographic print production.

You should have:

• A minimum of three years' experience in a repro or pre-press role.
• Practical knowledge of commercial print production processes.
• Experience working with packaging artwork and die-lines.
• Strong understanding of print specifications, colour management and PDF pre-flight.
• Advanced skills in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple jobs while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

• Heidelberg Prinect workflow
• Imposition software
• Colour management and Pantone matching
• Digital print production
• ISO quality systems
• Folding carton manufacturing

This role is suited to experienced repro/pre-press professionals from the commercial print or packaging industries.

Applicants whose experience is primarily in graphic design, digital marketing, advertising, web design or social media design are unlikely to be suitable for this position.
