Brief Description
The School invites applications for the permanent position of Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Geotechnical Engineering.

At the Senior Lecturer level:

REQUIREMENTS: • A Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering or a related field). • A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, and • Evidence of teaching, research and successful higher degree supervision in Geotechnical Engineering.

ADVANTAGE: • NRF rating, • ECSA Professional or Candidate Engineering registration, and • Evidence of generating research funding.

At the Lecturer level:

REQUIREMENTS: • A Doctoral degree in Civil Engineering (with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering or a related field). However, consideration will be given to exceptional applicants with a Masters degree (in the above fields) and potential to pursue a Doctoral degree in Geotechnical Engineering. • A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

ADVANTAGE: • ECSA Professional or Candidate Engineering registration. • Evidence of teaching, research/experience and successful higher degree supervision in Geotechnical Engineering. DUTIES: The successful applicant will be expected to lecture Geotechnical Engineering undergraduate courses, as well as other Civil Engineering undergraduate courses; lead (Senior Lecturer) or lecture (Lecturer) in Geotechnical Engineering postgraduate courses; participate in academic administration; supervise the research of undergraduate and postgraduate students and develop a productive research programme.
