Overview:

A Popular Bunch is looking for an exceptionally organised and proactive traffic manager to join our fast-paced team. This role is crucial in ensuring that projects flow smoothly across client services, creative, fabrication, and operations, while staying on time, on budget, and on brand.

You will act as the nerve centre of project delivery, ensuring that teams are briefed correctly, deadlines are tracked, resources are allocated efficiently, and no details slip through the cracks.

Key responsibilities: Project traffic and scheduling

  • Own and manage the workflow schedule across all departments.
  • Break down project timelines into actionable workback schedules.
  • Create and maintain job sheets, status trackers, and daily/weekly production check-ins.

Interdepartmental liaison

  • Act as the primary connector between client services, creative, and fabrication.
  • Attend internal and external status meetings to ensure clarity of priorities.
  • Translate client briefs into task-specific, department-friendly actions.

Resource management

  • Monitor availability and workloads across design, fabrication, and ops teams.
  • Flag potential bottlenecks and propose solutions before issues arise.
  • Coordinate freelance bookings when necessary to meet capacity.

Briefing and approvals

  • Ensure all teams receive clear, complete briefs and accurate timelines.
  • Track sign-offs and feedback loops between departments.
  • Maintain oversight of version control, change requests, and asset handovers.

Risk and issue management

  • Pre-empt delivery risks and propose contingency plans.
  • Escalate scope creep, budget risks, or missed deadlines to leadership.

Requirements:

  • Three-plus years in a traffic, production coordination, or agency project management role (preferably in events, experiential, or creative agencies).
  • Excellent knowledge of production timelines and creative workflows.
  • Familiarity with tools like Chase, Trello, Google Workspace, and Slack.
  • Great interpersonal skills: able to hold people accountable without creating tension.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, high-volume environment with multiple concurrent jobs & Divisions.
  • A calm, diplomatic approach and obsession with staying organised.

Bonus points:

  • Background or understanding in fabrication, print, or event production.
  • Experience working across national teams (e.g. JHB, CPT, Durban).
  • Familiarity with brand compliance, asset warehousing, or kit logistics.
