Freelance journalist (photojournalist) (Polokwane)

Job description

We require a freelance journalist with strong photojournalism capability to support corporate communications and event coverage. This role requires a professional who can produce accurate, high-quality written and visual content, while working with discretion and maintaining strict confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Cover events and produce written and photographic content for internal and external communication
  

• Capture high-quality images that align with brand and storytelling requirements
  

• Write clear, accurate and engaging copy to tight deadlines
  

• Conduct interviews and gather information professionally and efficiently
  

• Manage and submit content within agreed turnaround times
  

• Handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly at all times
  

Requirements

• Based in Limpopo and able to travel as required
  

• Minimum of three to five years’ experience in journalism or photojournalism
  

• Relevant qualification in journalism or a related field
  

• Proven experience in event coverage and storytelling
  

• Own camera equipment, laptop and reliable Wi-Fi access
  

• Excellent written English and strong attention to detail
  

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  

• Strong understanding of confidentiality and ethical reporting standards, with a clear commitment not to share or distribute information without authorisation
  

• A portfolio of published work and photography
  

Advantageous

• Experience in corporate or internal communications
  

• Basic photo editing and content packaging skills
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in event coverage and storytelling
  

• Excellent written English and strong attention to detail
  

• Ability to translate/write Sepedi will be an advantage

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
