Job Summary

SAWS invites applications for the position of General Worker to be based at either the Bethlehem Weather Office or the Nelspruit Regional Office. The successful candidates will assist artisans and perform basic maintenance duties within offices and at meteorological observation sites.

Key Performance Areas

Assist with installation and inspection of remote observation sites
Repair and maintain structures housing meteorological instrumentation
Perform terrain maintenance, including mowing, weeding, and waste removal
Clean indoor office facilities, including restrooms
Conduct rudimentary building maintenance
Review and comply with Total Quality Management (TQM) processes
Monitor, verify, and report on assets and key infrastructure
Support fleet management activities
Control stock levels required for maintenance tasks
Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation
Attend training and skills development activities
Share knowledge to support SAWS as a learning organisation
Participate in mentoring initiatives
Support exhibitions, workshops, expos, and client engagement events
Assist with school outreach visits

Minimum Requirements

Matric / Grade 12 / NQF Level 2
Valid Driver’s Licence

Added Advantage

Welding or general handyman training/certificates
