Senior Data Engineer (Pretoria)

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with extensive experience in legacy data sources and SAP Datasphere. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines and architectures that support critical business operations within the financial services or banking sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines integrating legacy systems and SAP Datasphere.
• Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into efficient data solutions.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across multiple sources.
• Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Participate in data strategy discussions and provide technical guidance on best practices.
• Support migration and integration projects involving legacy and cloud-based systems.

Requirements:

• 8–10 years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
• Hands-on experience with legacy data sources and SAP Datasphere.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, ETL processes, and data modeling.
• Experience in the financial services or banking sector is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
