AI Engineer (Johannesburg)

We are seeking a skilled and innovative AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy intelligent systems that learn from data. This role involves developing machine learning and deep learning models, building AI-powered applications, and integrating scalable solutions into production environments.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge AI solutions that drive business value and innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, train, and deploy machine learning and deep learning models
• Work with large datasets, including data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering
• Build AI-powered applications such as NLP systems, recommendation engines, and computer vision solutions
• Integrate AI models into production environments via APIs and cloud platforms
• Optimise models for performance, scalability, and accuracy
• Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams
• Monitor model performance and implement retraining strategies where required

Education and experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, Mathematics, or related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes
• CI/CD pipelines for model deployment
• Experience in Python, R (advantageous),
• Experience in TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras
• SQL / NoSQL databases, Pandas, NumPy, Apache Spark
• Natural Language Processing (NLP), Generative AI, LLMs
