A leading steel manufacturing and distribution company is looking for an experienced Import Procurement Specialist with strong experience in end-to-end import procurement and logistics to join their team in Kliprivier. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in international and local sourcing, with a proactive, strategic mindset focused on cost-saving initiatives and supply chain optimization.
Responsibilities:

Source steel products locally and internationally, ensuring favourable terms and quality standards

Establish and maintain supplier relationships to secure reliable supply and competitive pricing

Conduct market research to identify new supply sources and product opportunities

Evaluate and negotiate with processing service providers for cost and quality optimisation

Manage the full import process including supplier negotiations, shipping, clearing, and freight forwarding
-
Ensure customs compliance and remain current on import/export regulations

Maintain landed costings with all associated charges accurately recorded

Monitor global market trends, steel pricing, and tariffs to inform sourcing strategy

Continuously evaluate supplier performance and manage associated risks

Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Logistics, and Finance to align procurement with business needs

Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and data across the procurement lifecycle

Provide preliminary costings and feedback to relevant stakeholders

Liaise with local authorities such as SARS and ITAC to ensure compliance and identify potential duty relief or rebates
Requirements:
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in import procurement and logistics

Matric / Grade 12 minimum qualification

Strong understanding of international markets and customs procedures

Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel; experience with Microsoft D365 advantageous

Strong negotiation, tariff determination, and analytical skills
-
Detail-oriented, organized, results-driven, and capable of working under pressure

Self-motivated with a hands-on, strategic approach to problem-solving
