Intern / Junior Social Media Marketer (Cape Town)

The role

We are looking for a creative, internet-obsessed Social Media Intern or Junior Social Media Marketer—essentially, a gloriously talented individual who loves storytelling and digital culture.

You will work closely with our head of social media to brainstorm fresh initiatives, develop creative campaigns, and ensure all content aligns perfectly with our clients' and internal brand voices. You’ll be the hands-on engine executing and supporting social media strategies across popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Key responsibilities

• Content creation: Design eye-catching graphics, write engaging copy, and edit short-form video content (Reels/TikToks) using tools like Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Suite.
• Strategic support: Collaborate with the team to brainstorm campaign ideas and help implement overarching social media strategies.
• Social media management: Schedule and publish content across multiple channels using management tools.
• Community engagement: Monitor comments, respond to DMs, and actively engage with target audiences to foster community growth.
• Trend hunting: Keep an eye on evolving social media trends, formats, and algorithm changes to keep our content fresh.
• Reporting: Track key metrics (engagement, reach, growth) and assist in putting together monthly performance reports for clients.

What we are looking for

• Top-tier English and copywriting: Strong English writing skills with the ability to adapt to different brand voices (witty, professional, inspirational).
• Willingness to learn and grow: As this is an intern/junior position, we want someone who is highly motivated, eager to take guidance, and genuinely excited to expand their digital marketing skills.
• A professional portfolio: Show us what you can do! We are looking for professional content—this could include campaigns or projects from your tertiary studies, or work done for past clients.
• A hawk eye for detail: You spot typos from a mile away and care deeply about maintaining quality control for our brands.
• The travel bug: A genuine passion for travel, culture, and the digital nomad lifestyle.
• Tech and infrastructure: You must have your own reliable laptop and a stable, fast internet connection.
• Tech-savvy and self-driven: Since we are a remote team, you need to be a self-starter who communicates proactively via Slack and manages time well.
• Location: Fully remote, but Cape Town-based candidates are strongly preferred for occasional team meetups and strategy coffees.
• Bonus points: A degree or diploma in communications, marketing, or public relations. A basic understanding of SEO or paid social media (running boosted posts/ads).
