A leading financial services firm with a legacy spanning nearly a century, is seeking a Junior Financial Advisor to join their team. This business focuses on helping professionals, business owners, and families grow and protect their wealth. Their approach is centred on investment-led financial planning, supported by a team of highly qualified advisors with expertise in retirement planning, estate structuring, risk management, and offshore investment strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Researching advice-related matters with financial advisors to be utilised in client reports /record of advice
- Working closely with our financial advisors and administration manager to draft Records of Advice documents
- Assisting with compliance duties on behalf of the practice
- Assisting in managing the client review process for financial advisors
- Checking the accuracy of policy schedules and other reports prepared by the administration team
- Liaise with financial advisors, service providers, clients and team members as and when required
- Assisting with research, investigations, information gathering and setting up advice and administration processes for the business
- Assist senior advisors in preparing financial plans and investment strategies for clients.
- Conduct client research and gather financial data to support planning and recommendations.
- Assist with client meetings and allocating follow-up tasks.
- Stay current on financial products, market trends, and regulatory updates.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance financial advisory knowledge
Requirements:
- Matric certificate
- Progress toward relevant industry certifications (e.g: PGDip Financial Planning, CFP®).
- At least 3 years working experience at a CAT I FSP – investments, long term insurance, employee benefits, medical aid and gap cover
- Strong knowledge of financial advice relating to investment solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A keen interest and proven passion for people, financial planning, investments, and client service
- The candidate must be available to work (full-time) 08h00 – 16h30 at our offices in Morningside, Durban
Required competencies:
- An understanding of the Financial Services Industry ecosystem, FAIS and FICA legislation
- A thorough understanding of compliance rules and documentation associated with the providing of Financial Advice
- A thorough understanding of the administration and processes of a financial planning business
- Strong teamwork focus – must become a reliable and productive member of the team
- Strong computer and IT skills required, especially high competence in:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Financial planning software CRM system (like AtWork, EliteWealth, Xplan)
- Strong time management skills – must have the ability to manage time and tasks to ensure deadlines are met
- Methodical, accurate, with meticulous attention to detail
- Professionalism – as a business representative, maintaining a professional presence is required
- Strong analytical, maths and research skills
- The ability to quickly evaluate problems, identify solutions and execute tasks needed to move the business forward
- Being flexible in accommodating the changing needs of the team and/or clients
