We are currently seeking a sales and brand executive to join our dynamic team in the veterinary and pet shop industry. If you're ready to combine your passion for pets with your proven sales expertise, this is your chance to love what you do. 

  • Must demonstrate a knowledge of the pet industry and share a passion for pets.
  • Manage, maintain and grow accounts within the pet speciality sector, including independent, franchise and corporate brick and mortar stores (veterinary practice, vet shops and pet retailers), as well as industry professionals including breeders, groomers, trainers and behaviourists.
  • While a majority of the customer database will be provided, the role requires reactivating dormant accounts, strengthening existing relationships and expanding product penetration to increase basket size and overall account growth. Develop and maintain a strong network to identify and convert new opportunities where applicable.  
  • Implement effective sales techniques to ensure the successful launch, maintenance, and growth of product portfolio.
  • Service all customers (potential, existing, previous), alerting them of new products, promotions, and enhancements as well as ongoing product support through a monthly call cycle program.
  • Identify and understand product or service needs with customers including end-consumer, retailers and wholesalers; identify and suggest products and service to meet those needs.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management, addressing all customer queries, post-sale complaints, orders and stock control.
  • Demonstrate the functions and utility of products through effective product training and demonstrations.
  • Submit daily call reports detailing sales activities including calls, market activity, customer feedback, sales progress and weekly planner.
  • Analyse monthly sales figures and manage detailed reports including targets, product sales and customer activities.
  • Meet and exceed monthly/quarterly targets.
  • Perform market research to ensure optimum competitiveness.

Skills:

  • Minimum three years field sales experience in the veterinary/pet retail sector and/or
  • Minimum five years field sales experience in the retail industry but must demonstrate a knowledge of the pet industry and share a passion for pets
  • Relevant diploma or degree
  • Valid drivers licence and own reliable transport
  • Bilingual (English and Afrikaans)
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills
  • Ability to analyze market data and identify sales opportunities
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and reporting
  • Flexibility to travel across the Western and Eastern Cape regions.
