Warehouse Operations Supervisor (Johannesburg)

About the role

This is a junior management position based on the warehouse floor. You will work closely with the Operations Manager and Warehouse Manager and assist in running the day-to-day warehouse operations.

This is a hands-on supervisory role. You will be responsible for overseeing staff, ensuring jobs are prepared correctly, and that all stock is accurately checked, loaded, and returned. While you will not be required to do all physical loading yourself, you must actively manage and supervise the team on the floor.

Weekend work and overtime form part of the role.

Key duties

• Supervise daily warehouse activities
• Manage warehouse staff and casual labour
• Oversee loading and offloading of vehicles
• Ensure all stock is correctly counted and checked when leaving and returning from site
• Assist with stock control, counting, and organisation
• Coordinate job preparation for deliveries and collections
• Assist with basic stock maintenance and repairs
• Ensure the warehouse is clean, organised, and running efficiently
• Work weekends and after hours when required

Requirements

• Matric (minimum) – post-school qualification is an advantage
• At least 3 years’ experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar environment
• Previous experience supervising staff
• Strong attention to detail, especially with stock control and checking
• Hands-on and comfortable working on the warehouse floor
• Basic maintenance / repair skills and willing to learn
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
• Of sober habits
• Willing to work weekends and overtime on a shift basis
• Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
• Good communication skills
• Positive, can-do attitude
• Must submit copy of ID and drivers license on application
