Senior Business Intelligence Developer – Cape Town – up to R1mil per annum

A prominent investment management company focused on insurance solutions is looking for a senior Business Intelligence Developer to strengthen its IT Solutions team. This position is centered on architecting, developing, and enhancing enterprise-level BI systems. The successful candidate will convert complex business needs into efficient data models and scalable reporting solutions. The role involves consolidating data from diverse sources, ensuring high data quality, and enabling insightful analytics. It is ideal for a data-driven professional who thrives on turning information into strategic value.

Responsibilities:

Mentor and support junior team members in BI development and best practices.
Design, develop, and maintain robust BI solutions aligned with business objectives
Build and optimize data models, data warehouses, and reporting frameworks
Develop and manage ETL processes to ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading
Integrate data from multiple systems while maintaining data consistency and accuracy
Create interactive dashboards and reports to support business decision-making
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Monitor and improve data quality, integrity, and performance across BI systems
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within data workflows
Troubleshoot BI issues and implement sustainable solutions
Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

Qualifications and experience:

A relevant degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field.
5+ years of experience in a BI analyst developer or similar role.
Proficiency in Power BI or Qlik.
Advanced SQL skills and strong database querying ability.
Excellent numeracy and analytical thinking skills.
Experience with MS SQL Server, SSIS, and Power BI.
Exposure to Snowflake, Talend, or Qlik.
Experience working in the financial or asset management sectors.
Demonstrated experience in delivering BI projects from conception to deployment.
